Enhancing the Derivative Value of Intellectual Property

We oversee the management and promotion of the university's technologies and patents with the goal of commercializing research outcomes. Through continuous efforts, we aim to enhance the derivative value of intellectual property. Our tasks include the promotion of R&D results, technology transfer, company visits, patent applications, technical training courses, and collaborations with relevant research institutions.

Mission of the Center

1. Internal R&D Management

  • Integrate administrative services for faculty's patent applications and technology licensing and transfer.

  • Regularly hold intellectual property rights (IPR) awareness events and technical exchange/presentation conferences.

  • Establish comprehensive regulations and systems to improve patent application efficiency and technology transfer effectiveness.

  • Develop a robust patent application and management mechanism to regularly track, maintain, and legally protect intellectual property.

  • Establish a negotiation team for licensing agreements to safeguard the rights of technology providers.

  • Collaborate with legal advisors to review licensing contracts and prevent infringement of intellectual property.

  • Create a technical document management system and software to properly compile and preserve technical documents.

  • Objectively evaluate the potential of technologies and establish a fair system for future revenue distribution.

2. External R&D Promotion

  • Assist departments and research centers in incorporating early-stage technology transfer concepts into industry-academia collaborations.

  • Compile and organize internal R&D results into booklets or files for distribution to relevant trade associations and companies.

  • Coordinate with the Ministry of Economic Affairs, National Science and Technology Council, regional university alliances (e.g., Changhua-Yunlin-Chiayi), and the university’s R&D office to systematically hold results presentations.

  • Actively visit companies to understand their technical needs and match them with relevant faculty members, arranging focused discussions between industry and researchers.

  • Regularly participate in forums with regulatory agencies and local industry associations to identify technology licensing opportunities and share technological and market information with companies and faculty experts.

  • Expand the promotion and licensing of faculty-developed technologies through publications or e-newsletters to position the center as an exemplary technology transfer hub.

Objectives of the Center

1. Assist companies interested in technology transfer by identifying suitable university technologies and facilitating industry-academia collaboration.

2. Build a licensing negotiation team to review contracts, protect inventors' rights, and prevent IP infringement.

3. Attend forums with regulatory bodies and industry groups to monitor licensing opportunities and provide market intelligence to companies and faculty.

4. Increase revenue from technology transfer and licensing to support the center's sustainable operations.

5. Establish mechanisms for patent value assessment, modular management of patented technologies, and technical marketing strategies.

6. Identify target companies and potential partners to strengthen the university's technology promotion capabilities.

7. Actively join regional and national industry-academia-research alliances to enhance the visibility and reach of university innovations.

8. Integrate R&D management systems and procedures into automated administrative workflows and eventually move towards full online management.

9. Collaborate with the university's SME Incubation Center to guide R&D results into incubated startups, supporting the development of new ventures.
